Danielle ‘Dynamite’ Taylor (10-5) will face Jessica Aguilar (20-8) in a clash of former UFC veterans in the Co-Main event of XFC 43 on November 11th.
Taylor last fought well over a year ago when she dropped a close split decision loss to Julianna Lima. ‘Dynamite’ discussed her disappointment regarding this fight.
“It was very frustrating because I felt like it was a solid camp and I didn’t really get to show what I could do,” Taylor said. “I just felt like I didn’t really get to show what I had to offer. It was more of just her trying to hold me against the cage and I think we should have been split up and set right back in the middle”.
Taylor went on to say she hopes they can run that fight back and she would love for it to be 3 rounds 5 minutes each. In her main job, Danielle works as a police officer in the greater Los Angeles area. It goes without saying that 2020 has been a very trying year on a number of levels. We asked Danielle if her job has been any more difficult or dangerous during the pandemic.
“I wouldn’t say it’s more dangerous at least where I am at in Santa Clarita, a cop in fire town, it’s been really good,” Taylor explained. “Everything is different with the whole mask and being prepared with that kind of stuff but you just kind of have to roll with the punches that’s how I see it, adapt”.
Between work and training, Taylor has been staying very busy and is excited to step back into the cage.
“Overall I’ve been very busy because of everything that’s been going on,” Taylor said. “I am just happy my gym has been staying open so I can train and stay in shape and I have been just waiting to start have some fights so I can get back in there”.
Taylor has not fought in the UFC since her loss to the now Champion, Weili Zhang. Getting back to the big show is the goal for Taylor but she is embracing the grind and is no stranger to hard work.
“I would love to get back to the UFC but I like taking it step by step,” Taylor said. “That’s just how the process is so of course, I want to be the champion of this promotion and work my way back up. But yes of course the end goal is the UFC and to get back in there”.
The next step to accomplishing her goal of a UFC return will be dispatching of former UFC vet, Jessica Aguilar. Taylor knows this won’t be an easy fight but she is excited about the challenge and ready to put on a show.
”I think it’s a beautiful matchup,” Taylor said. “She is 5’3” a little taller than me but I am used to fighting people taller than me cause I’m kind of small. Overall just watching her videos it’s a great fight and a great opportunity and I am very excited to get in there”.
Taylor is confident and feels a finish victory may just be what the doctor orders. Tune in on NBC Sports, November 11th, and check out Danielle Taylor battle Jessica Aguilar in the Co-Main event for XFC 43.
