The UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber is not counting out a potential return to the Octagon at 42-years of age.
Since his loss to former bantamweight champion Petr Yan, Faber once again stepped away from the proving grounds he’s called home since 2010. After competing in a grappling tournament against Dustin Ortiz following his loss to Yan, it seems the agony of defeat has ignited a flame in Faber to step back into competition.
Admittedly, “The California Kid” acknowledges that he would need to go through a rigorous training camp if he were to mount a return to the cage.
Back in May of 2020, Faber’s protégé, Song Yadong fought in a razor-close fight against Brazil’s Marlon Vera. While “Chito” thought he unanimously won the fight, the results read the opposite, and Yadong was awarded the unanimous decision victory.

After the fight was over, Vera was adamant that he wanted to face Faber next. Although, since that night, “Chito” has taken on three challengers, two of which he beat. With the potential of a return on the horizon, Faber gave his thoughts on how the sequence of events unfolded.
“It’s funny the whole thing that happened with him and Song Yadong. He was all bent out of shape after that fight, backstage his whole team was ranting and raving,” Faber concluded. “I said ‘guys, you can always do it again.’ He was like ‘well why don’t you fight me then?’ right in front of Song. I go ‘oh you don’t want to fight Song again?’ ‘Oh no, no I do blah, blah.’ But, he hasn’t said a word about Song, you know. That would be a good one though, old Chito Vera.” Urijah Faber said to The Schmo.
Following the judge’s decision that left a bitter taste in Vera’s mouth, he was insistent on having a fight with Faber instead of just running the fight back with Yadong. After some time has passed, it looks like Faber is getting the itch to come back after all.
