UFC Vegas 36 saw the invasion of Liverpool but ended with Derek Brunson defeating Darren Till in the main event of the evening.
Taking place inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, the event featured many of the European fighters who were intended to fight on the canceled London, England card that was moved to “Sin City” last month.
Prior to the main event popping off, fellow Liverpoolians Molly “Meatball” McCann and the star-lit debutante Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett stole the show. As perhaps one of the UFC’s biggest signings of the year, Pimblett assured the world he would eliminate his opponent within a single round. After a chaotic round that saw Pimblett in some trouble, the Scouser hit his prediction on the nose–literally, and knocked Luigi Vendramini out 5-seconds before the first round bell could ring.

The Scousers were building momentum at UFC Vegas 36, and the last leg was the main event that pitted Till against the 3-time Division II All-American wrestler Brunson. Early on as the fight began, Till was able to capitalize with some stiff left-hand straights.
While it appeared that Brunson might have been wobbled a few times, the composure of the 37-year old kept him in control of the fight for the most part. Once the wrestler sensed danger, he used effective entrances to advance his top pressure on the mat.
When the third round was in motion, it looked like the wrestling of Brunson was overwhelming “The Gorilla”. Then, in a desperate scramble Till was almost able to get to his feet, but instead turned out of position. After that scramble, Till gave up his back to avoid the ground and pound, and Brunson sunk in a nasty rear-naked choke. Till tapped shortly after it was locked in. This victory marks Brunson’s fifth in a row since losing to the middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in 2018.

That wasn’t wise. He should have ditched the knee and resorted to takedown defense first. Beautiful shot from Brunson! #UFCVegas36
