UFC Vegas 30 is in the books, and Ciryl Gane came out as one of the biggest winners in the main event.
The night saw the #5 ranked Alexander Volkov look to establish himself as a clear title contender against France’s #3 ranked Gane but came up short despite the length and reach advantage in his favor.
The Frenchman was determined and methodical in his approach and got the job done via unanimous decision. Despite the rounds being competitive, once again, the world hardly saw Gane in any trouble throughout the course of five rounds.
UFC Vegas 30 Co-Main Event
In the co-main event, fellow heavyweights competed in an effort to stand out in the stacked division. With Jon Jones lurking in the HW shadows, there is added pressure to any fight taking place this year as many are not quite sure where/when Jones fits into the HW picture.
Ovince Saint Preux attempted to move up to heavyweight again and mount a title run but got denied by the aggressive upstart in Canada’s Tanner Boser in the second round.

The night was filled with controversy though, as some thought Boser may have used the fence to gain an unfair advantage in the fight against OSP.
While some believe the playback exonerates the Canadian, many are still unsure of what exactly went down before the finishing sequence in round 2.
Very hard to tell if Tanner Grabbed the fence on second look. Seemed like he did initially but after rewatching it looked like he closed hand. But still not certain! Either way massive win for Boser!

The knuckle fence grab may need to be explained more in the rule meetings.

Controversy and More Eye Pokes
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only controversial moment of UFC Vegas 30 as it came to a head in the bout between Andre “Touchy” Fili taking on Daniel Pineda.
As a result of an unintentional eye poke, the fight between Fili and Pineda concluded in a No Contest. Fili’s striking never looked better prior to the eye poke. With sharp boxing and a lethal high kick, the Team Alpha Male product looked to be in his best form.

UFC Vegas 30 was filled with finishes and exciting fights. Now, a rare week off from the promotion is at our doorstep. But when the UFC returns it will be big as they will return with the pay-per-view trilogy match between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
For the time being, take a look at what a few of the pros had to say after the event went down.
