The UFC Vegas 27 show went off without a hitch, and the main event saw two bantamweights sling leather with bad intentions.

Specifically, the action was barely contained within the Las Vegas UFC APEX Facility, and the main event saw Cody Garbrandt and Rob Font do battle. While many thought the fight would end in a finish, that turned out not to be the case.

However, the toughness of the former champion was on display, but he also implemented effective counter-striking. Despite not picking up the win, Garbrandt can go back to the drawing board and perhaps sharpen up some of the takedown skills he recently began to use more often. It was a blood and guts battle and certainly topped the card in a violent way.

Also, an important side note to the night was two notable fighters in Alan Jouban and Paul “The Irish Dragon” Felder retiring on the broadcast officially.

It’s been a great ride! I wanna thank all my supporters. I will miss making that walk, the smell of fresh leather gloves, the countdown to walk. Shit… I’ll miss the weight cuts a bit too. But I have really thought this through and it’s time. Thank you https://t.co/BoTP5iLZeu

UFC Vegas 27 Main Card – Performance Outliers

In the co-main event at UFC Vegas 27, former inaugural strawweight champion Carla Esparza made a statement. In fact, the former champ trapped her opponent on the mat and used an elbow to slice up the face of #3 ranked Xiaonan Yan. Without a doubt, this fight was a highlight of the night. Mainly because Esparza has a win over champion Rose Namajunas many moons ago. In addition to fans enjoying the performance, so did UFC president Dana White. In fact, she impressed him so much that she earned an additional $50,000 bonus check.

At UFC Vegas 27 Esparza had a brilliant performance, but so did the heavyweights. In particular, the Contender Series standout Jared Vanderaa showed massive improvements since his UFC debut. Overall, the heavyweight’s striking was precise and accurate and it earned him the victory against Justin Tafa.

Anyway, following the main card action, here is a look at what the MMA Twitter world had to say about UFC Vegas 27 and the main event!
