Heavyweight MMA fights can be more unpredictable than any other competition in sports. The combination of power and athleticism is every MMA fan’s fantasy matchup. This weekend’s main card fight between Maurice “The Crochet Boss” Greene (9-4 Pro Record) and Greg “The Prince Of War” Hardy (6-2) 1 NC) is a perfect example. Not only does this fight have one of the most controversial Mixed Martial Artists of all time in Hardy, but the winner will find himself one step closer to a heavyweight title shot.
The “Crochet Boss” Maurice Greene emerged on the MMA scene with his outgoing personality that shined on the Ultimate Fighter Season 28. His UFC career could not have started better with three straight wins in only 7 months. In the months following his tremendous start, Greene’s title shot hopes dwindled away after two straight losses that left his UFC record at 3-2. With the odds turning against him, Greene found himself in a tough spot against Gian Villante. Greene pulled off a modified choke from bottom in the third round to get the must needed submission win. The significant win put him right back on track to his life goals of being a UFC champion. He now finds himself against his most dangerous opponent yet, Greg Hardy.
On the other side of the Octagon, Greg Hardy was once considered a generational football talent before several arrests and controversies led him to be unemployed. Hardy found himself with nothing left but an athletic gift, a love for Martial Arts, and a world full of hate and disappointment. He made the most of his two ‘Dana White Contender Series’ appearances with a pair of first-round finishes to show the MMA world he was no joke. After an up and down start to his UFC career, Hardy found himself with a record of 2-2 1 NC. With many questions unanswered, he put the division on notice after his decision win over Yorgan De Castro in May. Hardy now looks to string some wins together in his next step at becoming the UFC heavyweight champion.

Tale of The Tape:
- Hardy has never been finished.
- Greene has a 2-inch reach advantage.
- Hardy Trains at American Top Team.
- Greene trains at Jackson Wink.
- Greene is a BJJ Blue Belt.
- Hardy has 5 KO wins. Greene 2
- Greene has 5 Sub wins. Hardy 0
Prediction:
Greg Hardy is the most underrated fighter in the UFC heavyweight division. His unmatched athleticism matches with his killer instinct to make him a dangerous up-and-comer. He needs to be careful on the ground as Greene has some slick BJJ that can put Hardy in trouble. I am taking the betting favorite Hardy (-300) as he should be able to finish Greene inside the distance on his road to UFC Gold.
