Fighting out of Chicago, Blaydes has won his last four bouts, two of which have been second-round finishes. The first was a ground and pound win over Shamil Abdurikhimov in September 2019. The second was a win over Junior Dos Santos via knees and punches back in January 2020. As for Lewis, he has won three consecutive bouts, where he has defeated Blagoy Ivanov, Ilir Latifi, and Alexey Oleinik. Looking for a fourth straight win, he prepares himself for a matchup that comes three months after the bout with Blaydes was originally cancelled.
A month before that, a grappling match between Lewis and Ryan Bader was also nixed. Lewis has 19 career knockouts coming into this fight. While gunning for his fourth straight win, he’s also looking for knockout No. 20. Blaydes had 17 fights under his belt with 10 knockouts to his record. He looks to win his 15th bout while shooting for an 11th KO in his career. He holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as does Lewis.
This should be a well evened out matchup between the two heavyweight sensations. UFC Fight Night will take place at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT on Saturday night airing on ESPN+.
