This Saturday on Halloween night, UFC Fight Night 181 will take place at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the city that made him famous with a debut win over Chris Leben at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino, former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva (34-10, 1 NC, MMA 17-6, 1 NC, UFC) will headline this holiday event against Ultimate Fighter Season 17 finalist in Uriah “Prime Time” Hall (15-9 MMA, 8-7 UFC).
For Silva, this will be his final fight in MMA as he looks to cap off a 23-year, 46 fight UFC Hall of Fame career with a victory over a fighter that, at one point in his career, was poised by TUF coach and retired fighter, Chael Sonnen, to beat “that puke”, in reference to Silva back in 2013. Sonnen fought and lost to Silva twice in their middleweight duels for the championship in 2010 and 2012. Silva holds two UFC records for longest win streak with 16 and most consecutive days holding a championship at 2,457 as the UFC Middleweight Champion, a title that he held for seven years.
Silva has also recorded 23 of his 34 wins by way of knockout, eight by decision, and three by submission. Avenging a first-round TKO loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC 237 would surely mean a lot for the 45-year old fight legend. Doing so in knockout fashion would be monumental, having done it over eight years ago on October 13, 2012, over Stephan Bonnar.
For Hall, he’s riding a two-fight winning streak with a knockout win over Bevon Lewis and a split decision win over Antonio Carlos Júnior. Since we’re on the subject of monumental, it would be exactly so if “Prime Time” would be able to break free from the Spider’s Web and record a win over a Swiss Army knife of an MMA living legend, mastering Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Boxing, and Capoeira. Hall boasts a black belt in Kyokushin Karate and is climbing the ladder in the grappling ranks as a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
UFC Fight Night 181 will air on ESPN+ at 6 PM ET on Saturday night, October 31, so don’t miss out on what will be confirmed as Silva’s final fight of his MMA career.
