A clash between Germany and Russia will take place at UFC Fight Island. Top German prospect, David Zawada will compete against Ramazan Emeev at the Jan. 16 UFC event. Training out of UFD GYM Dusseldorf, Zawada (17-5) will look to advance in the welterweight rankings. Zawada has no shortage of power, as he has demonstrated with eleven knockouts under his belt. However, the LFA standout from Germany showed off his grappling offense with a quick submission over Abubakar Nurmagomedov in the first round at UFC on ESPN+ 21. Despite coming up short in his first two UFC bouts, Zawada has evolved with the help of his brother. It should be noted that Martin Zawada also has a fight lined up in early 2021 at KSW 49: Materla vs. Askham 2.

UFC Fight Island – Zawada’s Training Partners
After speaking with Zawada, he explained that his camp was preparing him well for the big fight ahead. The welterweight athlete gave a glimpse of his camp life, saying, “[I am] training with all our fighters from [UFD GYM Dusseldorf] and this time also Gleison Tibau joined the training camp to help us out.” In addition to Tibau, Zawada emphasized training with his brother for his upcoming bout with Emeev (19-4). Even though Zawada had a rough start in the UFC, his most recent performance erased a lot of that negativity. It should also be noted that prior to his two losses in the UFC, German-born Zawada was on a roll with a five-fight win streak. With so much success under the KSW banner, now the young welterweight will look to set up a winning streak for the first time in North America.
Since his brother is also in training camp, the added motivation will certainly be an asset to Zawada. In what looks to be one of the biggest fights of his career, Zawada intends to steal the spotlight on a super stacked card. Headlined by the former champion, Max Holloway vs. Kalvin Kattar the night will be filled with violence.
