UFC 265 took a massive hit yesterday and the promotion has elevated former champion Jose Aldo and Pedro Munhoz to the co-main event.

After the double champion announced that she tested positive for COVID-19, the promotion intends to rebook the title fight with Julianna Peña for a later date. The UFC announced revisions and the elevated fight for the co-main event shortly after news of the positive test circulated.

We were more than ready for this fight, unfortunately shit happens. Stay tuned for a new date. 🦁 Testei positivo para o COVID 🙄 nova data em breve. @NinaAnsaroff @ConanSilveira @raeganannnunes pic.twitter.com/px31hxhaJZ

Nunes holds both the bantamweight and featherweight belts simultaneously, and is currently on a 12-fight win streak, though she will have to take a step away from competition to heal up.

Scheduled for August 7 in Houston, Texas, interim heavyweight gold is on the line when Derrick Lewis meets the unbeaten Ciryl Gane in the UFC 265 main event. Despite losing a title fight, the card is still incredibly strong.

Bantamweights Step Up For The Co-Main Event At UFC 265

Now, the legend, Aldo returns to maximize his opportunity against Munhoz in an epic bantamweight scrap. With Aldo coming off a win to Marlon Vera in December of 2020, the former featherweight champ has looked like his old violent self.

Facing Aldo will be Munhoz who also is back in the win column. “The Young Punisher” last fought in February where he took Jimmie Rivera to a unanimous decision victory. With Aldo holding onto a #5-ranking at bantamweight, Munhoz will look to fight up in the promotion he’s called home since 2014. Without a doubt, it should be an exciting bantamweight fight that adds some clarity to a muddy division.

The recent news triggered the elevation of Aldo and Munhoz to the co-main event, here is the lineup for UFC 265 scheduled for Aug. 7:

  • Derrick Lewis  vs.  Ciryl Gane [C]
  • José Aldo  vs.  Pedro Munhoz *ELEVATED TO CO-MAIN
  • Vicente Luque  vs.  Michael Chiesa
  • Yadong Song  vs.  Casey Kenney
  • Tecia Torres  vs.  Angela Hill
  • Rafael Fiziev  vs.  Bobby Green
  • Ed Herman  vs.  Alonzo Menifield
  • Karolina Kowalkiewicz  vs.  Jessica Penne
  • Manel Kape  vs.  Ode Osbourne
  • Miles Johns  vs.  Anderson dos Santos
  • Victoria Leonardo  vs.  Melissa Gatto
  • Drako Rodriguez  vs.  Vince Morales
  • Johnny Munoz Jr.  vs.  Jamey Simmons

Who are you picking in the bantamweight battle between Aldo and Munhoz at UFC 265?
