With UFC 262 in the rearview mirror, Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira has already started the week as the new Lightweight Champion, defeating Michael Chandler in Houston, Texas. He also set numerous records in the process while doing so. It took him 28 fights to win the UFC Lightweight Championship (19-8-0, 1 NC) which is a company record.

He also improved to 10-1 since he returned to the lightweight division back in April 2017. He is 12-3 overall at 155 lbs. Oliveira also has 17 stoppage victories, and also set a record with 11 “Performance of the Night” bonuses. Following the record-setting title win, Conor McGregor went to Twitter to call him out about having a fight in the near future.

Congrats to Olivera on becoming the 11th UFC lightweight champion.
Wonder who Twelve is…

— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 16, 2021

Now, this isn’t your normal tweet from “The Notorious”, but with a mention of his famous whiskey company, he was able to get a response from the newly crowned champion.

“Conor, worry about Dustin,” Oliveira said via a translator. “Then we’ll talk about it.”

“Conor, since you’re so tough, first of all, you beat Dustin, and then come over to Brazil and I’ll put you on your ass.”

The winner of the Conor McGregor-Dustin Poirier rubber match will face Oliviera for the championship.

“I battled hard to get here,” Oliveira said. “Everybody’s talking about who it’s going to be next, Poirier or Conor. I’ll leave that to my manager, and I’m going to go home and rest.” (MMAFighting)
