Tyron Woodley and Vicente Luque will meet inside the Octagon on Feb. 27. The news was first reported by Ariel Helwani with ESPN. The welterweight bout will add to the big pay-per-view, headlined by the heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic taking on the scary Francis Ngannou in a rematch.
The former welterweight champion will look to make a successful rebound against the tough Luque. Since both athletes are seeking a statement performance, now is a great time for the two to lock horns. While it should be noted that the former champion is coming off three losses, Luque however, is coming off two wins.
Tyron Woodley and Vicente Luque – Go To War
At the UFC event on Feb.27, Woodley will have a chance to get back into the win column. In particular, the former champion has struggled since 2019. The competition “The Chosen One” has faced in the UFC remain at the top of their division. For example, Woodley lost his belt to welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman. Then went on to drop a number one contender bout to the Jui-Jitsu ace, Gilbert Burns. Following the two devastating losses, he took an even worse one when he was stopped by the former interim champion, Colby Covington.

Conversely, Luque dropped a brutal unanimous decision loss to Stephen Thompson in 2019 but recovered with two back to back wins in 2020. First, against the dynamic striker, Niko Price. After that, the 29-year old Luque dominated Randy Brown en route to a second-round stoppage last August. Overall this fight screams big action, and with two powerful strikers, it will force Woodley to engage, or it could end up being a long night for the former welterweight king.
