With a full capacity crowd for the first time since the pandemic started, the UFC 261 show delivered massive action.
In particular, on the triple-header championship card, one belt changed hands. Inside the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena former champion “Thug” Rose Namajunas recaptured her title. In addition, Namajunas became the first woman to recapture a UFC title. Prior to the strawweight co-main event, reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko put on a masterclass performance against Jessica Andrade.

Congrats to @USMAN84kg nothing but respect to him and his coaches. All the lead up was fun and he proved to be a better fighter today. He is the champ for a reason. Jorge will be back

The main event delivered a vicious knockout, but the night truly had it all. From a brutal leg break of former champion Chris Weidman to the opening fight starting at such a furious pace. Undoubtedly, UFC 261 will go down in history as one of the most exciting events to take place. A packed arena in Fl. made the evening all the more special. While just one belt changed hands in the strawweight title fight, one thing is sure and that is welterweight champion Usman is the real deal on the feet, and in the grappling department. It will be interesting to see how future opponents and coaches try to find holes in the game of “The Nigerian Nightmare” moving forward.
