On ESPN+, Canada’s top prospect, TJ Laramie and Damon Jackson will do battle. The featherweight scrap is important. Why? Because each athlete’s ceiling is high in the UFC. The news was first reported by the MMA Lock of the Night’s social media platform. Circled on many calendars is this featherweight affair since many are anticipating a big comeback for the highly-touted Canadian.

While the location or venue has yet to be announced, one can only speculate as to when that information will be released. However, most fights that have taken place under the UFC banner have been in three places, Fight Island, Florida, and most importantly, the UFC Apex. Given the current events that slow just about every business down, surely in due time, the promotion will release the venue and location.

Collision Course – TJ Laramie vs. Damon Jackson

As mentioned above, Laramie is a top prospect. The 23-year old from Canada cut his teeth on the Dana White Contender Series [DWCS]. Since then, in his UFC debut, Laramie struggled against a crafty grappler by the name of Darrick Minner. Prior to his loss though, Laramie was on a roll. As mentioned above, the Canadian athlete competed against Daniel Swain on DWCS. Ultimately, Laramie got the job done and finished the fight but in the process, damaged his opponent’s ribs. Then the fight was stopped by a doctor at the end of round 1.

Damon Jackson lives up to his nickname “The Leech”. With twenty-three fights under his belt, the American is never to be counted out. Fans witnessed first hand why that is. Essentially, as fights progress, not only does his cardio improve, but he finds violent ways to hold down opponents. A good example of this came as he beat a worn-out Mirsad Bektić and ended up taking him out at the very end of the third round. Securing the guillotine in the last minute of round three, “The Leech” definitely underlined why he carries that nickname.

While the card is still being developed, here is an up-to-date bout schedule for the UFC event on May 1:

  • TJ Laramie  vs.  Damon Jackson
  • Kai Kamaka III  vs.  TJ Brown
