The main event for the Sept. 25 UFC card will be headlined by Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker.

The UFC has yet to finalize the card, but multiple sources at MMA Fighting have confirmed the fight will be a five-round headliner. Additionally, UFC president Dana White announced that fight night shows will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Specifically, Santos will look to snap a nasty losing streak and turn the last quarter of 2021 into something memorable. Santos has not won a fight since his finish of light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz in 2019. Despite a 3-0 run at light heavyweight, the Brazilian challenged Jon Jones and lost in a hard-fought loss where he took massive damage to his legs (multiple ACL and MCL tears).

On the other hand, Walker is coming off an emphatic TKO performance against Ryan Spann. Prior to the spinning elbow knockout against Spann, Walker suffered some setbacks in the Octagon. In particular, the rising Brazilian contender struggled against Corey Anderson and Nikita Krylov. This will be Walker’s first time headlining a UFC event.

After his big win over Spann, Walker will look to capitalize on this big moment. Initially, the 29-year old came onto the MMA scene extremely hot and put together a three-fight win streak inside the UFC before running into trouble. Overall, it’s good to see Walker get a chance to showcase his skills in a five-round fight. Not to mention if Santos can come out victorious, the seasoned veteran will seek another title run.

As of now, Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker will headline the event but the promotion has yet to announce any other fights for the card.
