“Sugar” Sean O’Malley is back and he fights Thomas Almedia at UFC 260. The big pay-per-view is headlined by the anticipated rematch between heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic and the powerful Francis Ngannou. The fight news was first announced by O’Malley on social media.
O’Malley will look to steal the show as he usually does, but that won’t be easy against the experienced Brazilian. Overall, both bantamweight athletes like to strike so the bout should be quite entertaining. Despite being on a three-fight losing skid, Almeida is never an easy out. Ever since O’Malley and former UFC Bantamweight Champion, Garbrandt shared the same card, the two have been destined to meet. However, in order to make that a reality, O’Malley will need to pass the test in front of him.
Sean O’Malley and Thomas Almeida – Showdown at UFC 260
Given the fight is on such a big card, a solid performance could set either athlete up with a huge 2021. The bantamweight division couldn’t be more alive right now. In fact, former UFC champion, TJ Dillashaw returned from his USADA suspension recently. In addition, with Garbrandt, Aljamain Sterling, and champion Petr Yan, the opportunities are vast.
O’Malley endured his first loss against Marlon Vera in 2020. Consequently, Vera finished the fights with elbows while in guard. On the other hand, Almeida recently lost a decision to Jonathan Martinez last October. So, O’Malley and Almeida will both be looking for a bounce-back performance.
Including the addition of Sean O’Malley vs. Thomas Almeida, here is the most recent bout schedule for UFC 260:
