Sean O’Malley is giving Bo Nickal some advice ahead of his UFC debut.
Nickal is a decorated wrestler and a multiple-time NCAA champion who has transitioned to MMA. After a very impressive debut on the Contender Series at 1-0 and got a 62-second submission win. He was then brought back to fight on the Contender Series and got another submission, this time against Donovan Beard and he was signed to the UFC.
Just days after signing, Nickal got booked to face Jamie Pickett at UFC 282, and ahead of the debut, Nickal is getting a ton of hype. With that, Sean O’Malley – who has also received a ton of hype is giving Nickal some advice.
“He’s potentially a superstar,” O’Malley said on his YouTube channel. “They’re going to build him up. He’s fighting a guy who’s 13-8, 2-4 in the UFC, coming off a two-fight losing streak. He’s going to be built up good. They’re going to put him where he needs to be.”
“The UFC is going to put you where you need to be. They’ve done it with me. They obviously knew I was going to be a superstar, and I am – look at me now. He’s got a lot of confidence – young, stud. I’d say just trust the ride, trust the UFC. But that’s not even that bad of a statement. He probably won’t fight on some sh*t card. They’re going to put him in a spot to where a lot of people are going to see him.”
Sean O’Malley definitely knows a lot about dealing with the hype and just doing what needs to be done as many criticized him for who he fought early on in his career. Yet, he just kept going on with what the UFC was giving him and it has worked out as he will now face Petr Yan in a potential title eliminator bout at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.
Do you agree with Sean O’Malley?
