A middleweight scrap between Roman Dolidze and Alessio Di Chirico is in the works for a UFC event on June 5.
Specifically, the news was first reported by sources at BJPenn and confirmed by Nolan King and John Morgan at MMAJunkie. After the announcement, many fans were excited at the idea of these two mixing things up. The Georgian Dolidze is coming off the first loss of his professional fighting career, so his bounce-back will be intriguing. Conversely, Di Chirico has never looked better.
In particular, the Italy-born Di Chirico scored a massive knockout against rising star Joaquin Buckley and did so devastatingly. While Buckley and Di Chirico were feeling each other out in the first round, before the clock could get into the third minute, the Italian prospect launched a massive head kick resulting in Buckley hitting the floor.
Middleweight Bangers Roman Dolidze vs. Alessio Di Chirico On Deck For June 5 UFC Event
With the recent win Di Chirico brings into this fight, certainly, Dolidze has a huge opportunity in front of him. If Dolidze gets past the well-rounded Italian he will be right in line for a ranked fight. On the other hand, the spoils of victory would be big for Dolidze as well because prior to his recent loss to Trevin Giles, the Georgian native was undefeated. Even though he lost his “O” to Giles, Dolidze did take the fight on short notice.
Given that both these athletes come into the cage to finish, fans can expect an all-out war to jockey for divisional position. Despite Dolidze coming off his first loss, he is extremely dangerous and versatile wherever the fight goes.
Do you think Roman Dolidze will get back into the win column? Or will Di Chirico be able to keep the flame alive after knocking out Buckley?
