Since Irwin Rivera is being handled by the court systems, a new fight is in the works. Specifically, Rani Yahya and Ray Rodriguez will now fight each other at the UFC event scheduled for March 13. The fight was first confirmed by Rodriguez on his social media.
Yahya (26-10-1) has had an impressively long career with many ups and downs. The 36-year old Brazilian has big wins over great competition like Eddie Wineland and Luke Sanders. Despite coming off a draw to Enrique Barzola, and before that, a loss to Ricky Simon, the bantamweight always puts on a great show. Prior to the two setbacks, Yahya’s record was shaping up nicely. He was able to utilize his ankle lock tactics but it didn’t dominate every facet of his game. However, it would be foolish to say that Yahya isn’t always hunting for a submission, considering he has a blistering twenty under his belt professionally.
Rani Yahya and Ray Rodriguez – Fresh Fight
Rodriguez’s record is inconsistent. Particularly, the ability to rack up multiple wins together has always been an elusive endeavor for the 33-year old athlete. It is important to note that Rodriguez has faced stiff competition. Sometimes, he comes out on top against very skilled opponents like Jimmy Flick for example. However, as of late, he suffered a loss to the extremely active Brian Kelleher. With the submission game of Yahya and the overall violence Rodriguez brings to every fight, this one should deliver the action for sure.
