Canadian standout Randa Markos has been forced out of her fight with Luana Pinheiro at UFC 260: Ngannou vs. Miocic II because of a positive Covid-19 test.
While the news was abrupt Thursday morning, the first to report that the Canadian had tested positive for the virus was Combate. Additionally, sources at MMAJunkie confirmed the news. Consequently, Markos is out of her UFC 260 fight against Pinheiro and potentially gave up a big spot. As of now, it is unclear if the promotion intends to find a replacement fight. Though, the Dana White Contender Series alumn is eager to fight. In the end, surely she will either fight or the Markos fight will be rescheduled. (seems to be the norm lately)
Randa Markos Hit With Covid-19 But Is Going To Bounce Back
On the end of a rough three-fight losing streak, 35-year old Markos needs to be aggressive and go for the finish next time out. Since the Canadian’s back is against the wall, a big performance might keep her in the organization she has called home since 2014 (starting with The Ultimate Fighter). Overall, the competition with Markos has been tough from the start. After all, she took on Amanda Ribas in a thrilling fight. Then, the five-foot-four Iraq-born fighter took on another elite opponent in Mackenzie Dern but also failed to pass that test.
Despite being on a 3-fight skid, Markos is always down to throw hands. Not to mention, the red-headed banger has a lot of tricks on the ground too. For instance, her ground game is highlighted with five submissions on her record. Granted, she’s on the back-end of her career, Markos is always a great barometer for upcoming fighters, and perhaps the promotion recognizes that.
