A Closer Look At Kelvin Gastelum/Jared Cannonier
The UFC organization has yet to announce the fight as official. Mainly because even though both fighters agreed to fight, subsequent contracts have yet to be inked. Despite being informed of Costa’s withdrawal, Cannonier was adamant about staying on the card to compete.
Cannonier will still be fighting a former title challenger. Indeed, Costa is a fresh commodity, but lately, his hesitation has come at a heavy cost. However, with “Borrachinha” out, for the time being, Cannonier is a problem for most middleweights inside the Octagon.
Prior to his loss to former champ Robert Whittaker, the “Killa Gorilla” lived up to his nickname. In fact, he showed his gorilla-type power against top contender Jack Hermansson. Since the American got the finish with ground and pound, undoubtedly he could reach big heights with a win in 2021.
On the other hand, Gastelum is a true martial artist at middleweight. Even though he struggled with weight cuts at 170lbs, he since corrected those shortcomings. Former interim title challenger Gastelum is struggling to rebound in his division. With one win in his last five outings, Gastelum is pitted with his back against the wall.
Gastelum’s time on The Ultimate Fighter and his UFC tenure has taught fans that on fight night, Gastelum is the type of fighter to always show up and give a stellar account of his skills.
