The booking between former title challenger Patchy Mix and James Gallagher is back on and has a new date.
It was first reported by sources at MMA Junkie that the two bantamweights will meet on November 5. In addition, the report revealed that the Bellator event could possibly take place in Ireland. However, as of this writing, details are still being worked out to finalize the official venue and location.

Initially, Gallagher and Mix were scheduled to meet at the Bellator 258 event on May 7. Due to an unfortunate shoulder injury, Ireland’s Gallagher was forced out of their first booking. Instead, Mix faced Albert Morales and defeated the short-notice replacement by submission in the third round.
Gallagher’s momentum is high with a four-fight win streak intact. The run of wins is especially impressive considering the “The Strabanimal” was coming off his first professional defeat by TKO to Ricky Bandejas back in 2018.
Following his first pro loss, Gallagher re-centered and began to focus on a more aggressive approach–one where he looked to take the fight to the ground as soon as possible. Since making the requisite adjustments, he has submitted three of his last four opponents.
The 27-year old Mix has looked outstanding inside the Bellator cage. Mix brought a 13-0 record into his first title fight against Juan Archuleta last September but came up short in a unanimous decision loss. Despite dropping the ball when it came to his first chance at gold, the American is an effective finisher with ten submissions on his record. In addition, Mix has a submission victory over Bandejas who managed to take out Gallagher a few years ago.
Interestingly, both fighters are potent finishers in the grappling department. With Mix back in the win column after his defeat for the vacant featherweight title, he will be motivated and ready to make a statement.
If the bout ends up materializing in Ireland, then Mix will have more than just Gallagher to contend with on fight night as we have seen in the past, Irish MMA fans are some of the most passionate and ferocious.
