Nikolas “Iron” Motta (12-3) picked up the biggest win of his career on November 10th and earned a UFC contract after beating a durable Joseph Lowry (9-2) by unanimous decision at Dana White’s Contender Series. Motta looked impressive throughout the fight as he set the pace and stalked his opponent landing thudding combinations en route to his victory. Nikolas gave us his overall thoughts on his DWTNCS win.

“My goal is always to finish fights, finish via knockout especially at Dana White’s Contender Series and impress the whole world, but he was very tough and also I took the fight on short notice I had to cut 35 pounds in 20 days,” Motta said.

During White’s post-fight contract announcements, the UFC President questioned Motta’s killer instinct in the second round before ultimately awarding the Brazilian with a contract. Motta assured White and us that the boss made the right decision.

“I was kind of afraid about that but at the same time, I know that Dana and the matchmakers know me from a long time ago and they know what I can do. Maybe he was expecting a beautiful knockout because that was what happened most of the time when I fight,” Motta continued to explain he has a killer instinct and it has already been proven. “Everybody knows I have that, I have 12 wins with 8 knockouts what more do you want than that”.

Motta is now training full time in New Jersey and the heavy-handed fighter explained just how much better he is now as a fighter after leaving his home in Brazil.

“So much better now and it’s not just my game I grew up as a man because before I was a kid and I was very emotional and my ego was kind of big, “Motta explained. “Now I have more experience and more of a smarter fighter now.”

The UFC lightweight division has a new and exciting player to add to the mix and Motta is excited to climb into the octagon and make his debut in the very near future.

“I can’t wait for my UFC debut, let’s go step by step and everybody is going to love the way I fight. This time I wanna have a full fight camp because when I have a full fight camp its so easy to make weight and fight healthy and this last fight was too crazy, I wasn’t healthy”.

Be on the lookout for Motta to make his highly anticipated UFC debut in early 2021.
