It looks like Stockton’s Nate Diaz has his eyes firmly set on a welterweight fight with Vicente Luque.
It appears 209’s favorite fighter is itching to return. Diaz met Leon Edwards at UFC 263 back in June. The Englishman controlled the fight through effective standup technique for most of the five-round contest. Then, in the very last round, Diaz was able to land a huge combination flush, that visibly wobbled Edwards. Lasting impressions were that Diaz came out of that fight with higher stock than what he entered with.
Even though Nate Diaz lost the fight with Edwards, he left the Gila River Arena in Arizona with his head held high. After all, most of the MMA sporting sphere was just celebrating Diaz’s flash of brilliance against “Rocky”. After losing a unanimous decision, and seeing his elder brother Nick Diaz return, it seems Nate Diaz is ready to fight by the end of the year.
I ain’t got a contract

“I ain’t got a contract It must be something wrong wit luque” Nate Diaz posted.
Vicente Luque, meanwhile, is on a quiet 4-fight winning streak, hence the nickname “The Silent Assassin”. Despite being a mild-mannered fighter, Luque knows how to turn on the carnage when the cage door locks. After Diaz called his name, Luque seemed more than willing to mix it up with one of the biggest names in the sport.
I’ll raise my offer we can go as many rounds as you want and let’s make it an all stand up war no take downs allowed! #FOTY

“I’ll raise my offer we can go as many rounds as you want and let’s make it an all stand-up war no takedowns allowed! #FOTY” Luque said.
As December is less than two months away, hopefully, the two can negotiate and make this fight happen. Of course, Luque seems like a dangerous opponent for Diaz at welterweight but, if “The Silent Assassin” sticks to those ‘special rules’ he introduced, then perhaps the fight will be an absolute stand-up war.
Do you believe Nate Diaz will make a December 2021 return to the Octagon?
