Miranda Maverick and Maycee Barber will face each other at the UFC event on July 24.
The news was first reported by ESPN. Specifically, on late Tuesday night, the bout was announced by the UFC president Dana White. Additionally, the promotion specified the July 24, date. Despite being on a two-fight losing skid, Barber is a threatening force if she can keep the fight standing. Interestingly, Maverick has an opposing style where she utilizes her wrestling often. However, in her couple UFC performances, the young 23-year old prospect looks impressive because of her ability to mix things up well.

Specifically, Barber is a striker but in her last two losses, the young upstart is learning the hard way about possessing a more polished wrestling acumen. Following her setback to Alexa Grasso, Barber is eager to rebound big and the prospect has the skills to do it. At the UFC event on July 24, Barber’s performance and possibly her job hinge on success against Maverick.
Conversely, Maverick enters as the fresher fighter. Following a solid unanimous decision win against Gillian Robertson, Maverick has been in the spotlight lately. Although, Barber also has a win over the Canadian and she managed to finish her with strikes and not leave it to the judges in 2019.
While Barber was once the young up-and-coming prospect, now it is Maverick. Although, if Barber can use the experience to her advantage then the fight could play out in her favor. It would be foolish to underestimate the wrestling of Maverick. The young athlete is already making waves in the UFC. At just 23-years old it’s clear Maverick’s ceiling is high but fans were saying the exact thing about Barber a few years ago.
Some might say most of the pressure is on Barber because her back is up against the wall. One thing is for sure after the conclusion fans will understand if Barber is here to stay, or if we have a new dangerous contender on our hands.
With the addition of Miranda Maverick and Maycee Barber, here is the line-up for the UFC event on July 24:
