Michael Chandler is hoping to fight Jorge Masvidal in the future.
Chandler is coming off a submission loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, and he is now 2-3 in the UFC. The former Bellator lightweight champion is hoping to have some fun fights. He has made it clear his ideal plan is to fight Conor McGregor in July next year at welterweight.
Yet, Chandler says he would also move up to welterweight to face Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title. He believes he is the real BMF since signing with the UFC and believes a scrap against ‘Gamebred’ would be massive.

Michael Chandler Calls Out Jorge Masvidal
“You tell me who the BMF is right now in the UFC? You tell me who the BMF is, you tell me who the fans [are], if we did a poll right now, who’s the baddest mother fudger in the UFC? Tell me that wouldn’t get the juices flowing of the entire mixed martial arts world. Michael Chandler versus Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt. The Rock walking in with it over his shoulder, and then handing it to me 15 minutes later,” Chandler said to ESPN MMA.

There’s no question a fight between Michael Chandler and Jorge Masvidal would be massive. It’s also a fight that does make sense as both have struggled and are out of the title picture for the time being. But, whether or not the UFC makes the fight is uncertain at this time.
Michael Chandler (23-8) is coming off the submission loss to Poirier and before that, he knocked out Tony Ferguson. The win over Ferguson snapped his two-fight losing skid as he lost to Justin Gaethje by decision and was knocked out by Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title. In his UFC debut, he scored a first-round TKO over Dan Hooker.
Jorge Masvidal (35-16) is on a three-fight losing streak and lost a decision to Colby Covington back in March. Prior to that, he was knocked out by Kamaru Usman for the belt in the rematch after losing a decision to Usman in a fight he took on short notice. Before the losing skid, he won three straight fights with wins over Nate Diaz – to win the BMF belt – Ben Askren and Darren Till.
