In the Greater Accra area in Ghana, there comes a young man who fights in two MMA promotions at once while tending rabbits at his home farm. He has fought in several MMA and Muay Thai fights in his young career. He fights both for Warriors Sports Championship and African Warriors Fighting Championship. Meet 23-year old farmer Jonathan Lamptey who trains and fights as Wilder Karma.

We're ready for you @robinblackmma! The #bink is coming to Nigeria 🇳🇬 https://t.co/I3Us6B5Rmr

Born on July 16, 1997, he discovered fighting at a young age while watching a traditional wrestling bout on Dansoman Beach. He then met a man named Jonathan Euro who fights and also trains local fighters in the area. It was then that he began his combat sports journey. Beginning with Tae Kwon Do, he then evolved to Muay Thai and traditional kickboxing. He has become one of the premier fighters in his homeland.

Like many young fighters, he hopes to achieve the ultimate goal, no pun intended, by making it to the UFC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship. With a 7-0 MMA record, along with kickboxing and Muay Thai wins to his record, Lamptey has been consistently impressive fighting in all realms of fighting to keep himself prepared for the next fight.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lamptey has consistently trained and is waiting for the next fight to come once it ends. Like all Earthly citizens, he wears his mask and gloves while traveling outside. The middle child of four children, he helps his oldest sister and two brothers tend rabbits on their farm at home with their mother. Their father suffered a stroke a few years back and has still not fully recovered from it.

Otherwise, he remains busy helping his family while keeping his martial arts priorities in check. Being paid 2000 cedis per fight, that’s $339.29 USD per fight, and feeding his rabbits in the morning and evening each day sounds like a true underdog story for a young African fighter with big dreams. With time on his side, the sky is the limit.
