Rising flyweights Maycee Barber and Erin Blanchfield were set to collide but unfortunate circumstances have at least scratched the fight temporarily.
Currently, Erin Blanchfield has verbally agreed to a fight, however, no other details surrounding the potential fight for Blanchfield have been revealed. While it appears the fight is verbally agreed upon, until contracts are rendered and signed, nothing is official.
Scheduled to fight on the star-studded UFC 269 pay-per-view, Barber was looking to expand off her recent success when she outpointed Miranda Maverick back in July. However, Maycee Barber has been forced to withdraw from her upcoming flyweight showdown with Erin Blanchfield. As of this writing, Barber pulled out of the contest for undisclosed reasons. First to report the news of Barber’s withdrawal were sources with MMA Junkie.
Barber was beginning to bounce back after absorbing her only two career losses in MMA. While she would have been a great opponent for the up-and-comer, Erin Blanchfield, that prospective fight is now on ice. UFC 269 goes down on Dec. 11 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. With Barber out, the young and hungry prospect needs a new dance partner before the Dec. 11 pay-per-view. Some preliminary reports are suggesting Maverick is the replacement but that has yet to be made official.

Who Will Erin Blanchfield Fight Next At UFC 269?
If/when the promotion finds a suitable opponent for Blanchfield, she will look to remain on one of the hottest pay-per-view attractions of the year. In the headlining act, lightweight gold is on the line. Submission guru Charles Oliveira will be tasked with his toughest title fight to date when he takes on former title challenger Dustin Poirier. In addition, the card is weighed down with gold, as women’s double champion Amanda Nunes intends to separate herself from the rest of her cohorts with yet another title defense.
Overall, the event is packed with a ton of great fights, and when Blanchfield finds a body, then there will be one more to add to the list. The 22-year-old prospect is on a 4-fight winning streak. During her time rising up the ranks, it became clear that her ability to end fights while standing or on the canvas became one of her best weapons.
