It seems it will be a while before we see Zabit Magomedsharipov back in the Octagon.
Many fans were curious when we would see Magomedsharipov compete again after his bout with Yair Rodriguez got canceled. According to the MMA reporter Igor Lazorin, Magomedsharipov’s manager claimed that the top featherweight is suffering from enduring health issues. In particular, it seems the top-rated UFC fighter will not be competing in the UFC until his problems are resolved.
Zabit Magomedsharipov’s Manager Speaks On 2021 Season
Within the report, it claims Magomedsharipov’s manager Rizvan Magomedov understands that the featherweight is in the process of healing. Specifically, the report indicates that Magomedsharipov’s issues are related to the immune system. Additionally, the manager explained that these issues are getting in the way of Magomedsharipov being able to train properly. The manager also stated that surgery is necessary, but will be postponed until the 30-year old is feeling better.
Prior to these health problems, Zabit was on a roll. Specifically, the Russian is overwhelming in the striking department. For example, against Calvin Kattar he proved why he is so potent on the feet. Despite not collecting a finish, the performance still screamed for a top-ranked opponent. While Zabit has endured a period of inactivity, it looks like now it will be a little longer until fans see him back in the cage. The unanimous decision win against Kattar in 2019 was dominant, but the same questions about Magomedsharipov are still lingering.
First, many are concerned with the Russian’s inactivity as his last fight was in 2019. In addition, one other issue that has surfaced is Zabit’s ability or inability to go five hard rounds. Since the fight against Kattar was three rounds, (albeit the main event) fans are still uncertain how the fast-twitch striker will respond to going twenty-five minutes.
