Leon Edwards has fired back at Colby Covington.
After Khamzat Chimaev was forced out of his March 13 fight against Leon Edwards, Dana White hinted at Covington potentially stepping up. However, recently, “Chaos,” said he was isn’t interested in the fight.
“Leon (Edwards) hasn’t earned anything, boys,” Covington said to Submission Radio. “I’m in the Colby Covington Incorporated championship business, I’m not in the Leon Scott charity business. This isn’t charity hour, man. I’m fighting at the top of the mountain, I’m fighting the best in the world…
“It’s not my fault this kid hasn’t fought in two years. It’s not my fault this kid – there’s people from England fighting all the time in the pandemic, they’re not scared to fight,” Covington continued. “So, I’m not doing charity for this guy who hasn’t fought in two years. He’s irrelevant, he’s beat a bunch of bums, and I’m not doing charity. This isn’t charity hour, this is f*cking championship f*cking pay-per-view hour.”
To no surprise, Leon Edwards has now fired back at Covington for saying he isn’t interested in the fight.
“If he wants a title shot, he has to beat someone like me,” Edwards told ESPN. “I’m ranked No. 3 in the world, he got beat by the champion one fight ago (and) beat a washed-up Woodley, so I don’t understand where he goes from here if he wants to be a world champion. If Masvidal and Usman is getting made, then what does he do? He has to fight me…
“Just stop being a b*tch and step up,” Edwards later added. “He talks all this sh*t on social media, but he doesn’t want to fight. He makes excuses as to why he doesn’t want to fight. Then step up and stop being a b*tch. Let’s get this work.”
There is no question a fight between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington makes sense. However, at this time, it seems unlikely the fight will happen due to Chaos not wanting it.
