Looking to build on his recent featherweight success, Lando Vannata returns to action against Tucker Lutz scheduled for a UFC event on November 13.
News of the pairing was first revealed by sources at MMA Fighting. The showdown will serve as Vannata’s second fight in the UFC’s featherweight division. After scoring a split-decision victory against Mike Grundy back in May, the famous debutante that gave Tony Ferguson a run for his money will be in line for a big fight if he should get through the durable Lutz. It will be a tall task indeed, as Lutz has maintained an unbeaten record since his first and only professional loss back in 2015 at Shogun Fights 13.
After losing in a rematch to lightweight Bobby Green last year, Vannata finally decided to make the move down to 145-pounds. Despite the disheartening record of losses, along the way Vannata has proved his worth with a flashy style and certainly has impressed the UFC brass. In particular, the lightweight managed to snag a total of five performance bonuses, four of which were ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.
Lutz has been a proven force inside of the Octagon, and the featherweight has finished eight of his twelve professional wins. “Top Gun” will have his hands full with Vannata who has a striking style that is very much like a swiss army knife. With the unorthodox striking style of “Groovy”, his wide repertoire of strikes makes him a challenging foe to prepare for. However, at times, some would argue that the nature of his style has gotten him into brawls when his technique could get the job done more effectively.
Lutz has won his last three fights by unanimous decision, two of them on the Contender Series, and all three wins highlighted the 27-year old’s ability to stick to a disciplined game plan. On Nov. 13 Vannata will look to build his first win streak in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2016.
Will Lando Vannata or Tucker Lutz walk away with the victory on Nov. 13?
