UFC commentator, Joe Rogan was very impressed by Dustin Poirier and his performance at UFC 257.

In the main event of the pay-per-view card on Fight Island, Poirier scored the biggest win of his career as he knocked out Conor McGregor in the second round. Poirier used leg kicks to slow down the Irishman and then went up high to rock and finish him off.

It was the first time the Irishman was knocked out in MMA and after the fight, “The Diamond” started to call himself the uncrowned lightweight champion.

It was a phenomenal performance for Poirier who cemented his legacy as one of the best ever. He has been a top lightweight for years but will not start getting the respect he deserves. For Rogan, he believes Poirier is indeed the uncrowned champion and had nothing but praise for him.

“A tremendous congratulations to @dustinpoirier for his spectacular victory last night. At 155 he is absolutely one of the most fierce fighters on earth, and if Khabib really is retired for my money Dustin is the uncrowned champ,” Rogan wrote on Instagram.

Prior to the win over McGregor, Dustin Poirier had a Fight of the Year contender against Dan Hooker in June which he won by decision. It was his first time fighting since he suffered a submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title. He is also the former interim lightweight champion.

Now that Poirier has the win over McGregor he has plenty of options for his next fight. He could have the trilogy with Conor McGregor or a scrap with Nate Diaz which he brought up.

Dustin Poirier has a ton of options now following his upset KO win over McGregor. Regardless of his next opponent, Poirier deserves to be fighting for the vacant lightweight title after his KO win over McGregor on Saturday night.
