Jan Blachowicz is confident he can make 185lbs.
After Israel Adesanya reclaimed the middleweight title at UFC 287, Blachowicz surprised many when he tweeted at ‘The Last Stylebender’ that he wants the rematch at 185lbs. The two fought at UFC 259 for Blachowicz’s light heavyweight title and it was Blachowicz who won by decision.
Although Blachowicz is a big light heavyweight, the former champ is confident he can make 185lbs and hopes a rematch can happen.
Can Jan Blachowicz Cut Down to 185?
“People need to believe a little bit more in me,” Blachowicz said in an interview on “The Craic with Peter Carroll.” “And if UFC would like to make this fight, I will do it, no problem. I know how to do it. That will be great motivation for me, a big motivation, you know, to beat him another one, another time. So yeah, why not?”
“I’m ready to do that. I find a way how to do it. And then, of course, how to do it and be in very good shape in the fight. If I wasn’t, I will not say that. But of course, I need a little bit more time. They have to give me like three, four months. Yes, 205 is easy for me. Three weeks like this, you know, but 84 (kgs), yeah, three months. For sure.”
Whether or not the UFC has an interest in making Jan Blachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya 2 at middleweight is uncertain. But, Blachowicz is confident he can make 185lbs and believes the fight makes sense as Adesanya has beaten most of the top guys at middleweight.
