One of Bellator’s biggest stars, James Gallagher is returning to action at Bellator 258. In particular, the Irishman will take on former title challenger, Patchy Mix in a pivotal bout to determine the contender closest to the top of the featherweight division. The news was confirmed by MMAJunkie but was first reported by MMA DNA. The two will fight on the Bellator card on May 7.
While the promotion has been on a hiatus due to Covid-19, it looks as though Bellator is finally starting to put some more events together. Both athletes have been out of action for well over a year, but are looking for a big win to start 2021. Prior to the announcement, Gallagher last competed in October where he expanded his win streak. Specifically, Gallagher faced Cal Ellenor and finished the fight with a rear-naked choke. Conversely, Mix is looking to get back into the win column after he fumbled in a title eliminator bout last year.
James Gallagher vs. Patchy Mix Added To Bellator 258
Since his first professional loss to Ricky Bandejas, Gallagher is on a tear under the Bellator banner. After the setback, first, he got back into the win column with a win over Steven Graham by rear-naked choke. Then, “The Strabanimal” earned three more victories and two of them by submission. Overall, Gallagher is on a four-fight win streak with a lot of momentum.
On the other hand, Mix has also looked outstanding inside the Bellator cage. Aside from his loss to Juan Archuleta, the 27-year old American is a force while standing and on the ground. As of now, the American has nine submissions on his record. In addition, Mix’s only loss came to the champion, Archuleta.
With the addition to James Gallagher vs. Patchy Mix, here is the most recent list of fights scheduled to take place at Bellator 258:
