On Wednesday news broke that Gillian Robertson and Miranda Maverick will meet in the Octagon at UFC 258. Maverick (8-2) announced the bout on social media. In addition, the fighter wrote, “It’s what you’ve all been waiting for and I have too. Feb 13th Las Vegas Fear The MAVERICK vs The Savage.” Prior to the fight announcement the UFC mainstay Robertson (9-5) kept busy at Chael Sonnen’s Submission Underground grappling tournament.
Overall Robertson performed excellently and secured a win with a rear-naked choke over UFC veteran Pearl Gonzalez. Conversely, Maverick is no joke and comes from the Invicta FC organization with a lot of steam. Specifically, she showed her eliteness after capturing the title in the Invicta FC Phoenix Series 2 Flyweight Tournament.
Gillian Robertson and Miranda Maverick – UFC 258 Banger
Not only have both athletes been busy, but stylistically, the fight makes for an exciting one. Since Maverick comes into the UFC already a champion, certainly she intends to have a statement-making debut against the fierce, Robertson. The Canadian Robertson’s submission skills are top-notch but her striking has evolved immensely as of late. Despite coming up short in her last outing against Talia Santos, Robertson always brings a dog fight.
At UFC 258, the stakes couldn’t be higher with such a huge headliner. The long-anticipated battle between welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns will be decided. Consequently, the event will air on pay-per-view as well as on ESPN+. All of the action kicks off Saturday, Feb.13. With the addition of Gillian Robertson and Miranda Maverick, the remaining bouts on the card are as follows:
- Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns
