Former lightweight champion and revered legend of the sport Frankie Edgar will meet Marlon Vera at UFC 268.
The bantamweight contest was first announced by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto on Friday. The 135-pound battle between Edgar and “Chito” will happen in New York and is scheduled to take place on November 6 according to the initial report. The 39-year old Edgar will return to the Octagon and fight in his third bantamweight fight to date. Additionally, all signs are pointing to the contest going down in the famed Madison Square Garden venue.
The report indicates that the UFC will return to MSG after a five-year hiatus where the company last put a show on in 2016. The bantamweight affair will go down alongside the heated rematch featured on the UFC 268 pay-per-view event between welterweight contender Colby “Chaos” Covington and welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Edgar will look to rebound after an absolute missile of a knee landed on his chin by Cory Sandhagen. Prior to that, the former champ picked up his first win at 135-pounds when he strategically took Pedro Munhoz to task in a razor-close split decision win. The third time is a charm, and a legend of the game will look to expand on his recent title aspirations in a lighter weight class.
The 28-year old Vera last competed in June, where he outpointed the tough Davey Grant to earn a unanimous decision victory. Before his success in June, Vera had a setback against the former featherweight champion Jose Aldo in a contentious unanimous decision loss. With two highly skilled fighters on the docket, the bout will be serving up a winner who will emerge into the higher echelon of fighters in the 135-pound weight class.
