Former MMA fighter Tyler East has been pronounced dead after being shot in Los Lunas, New Mexico on Monday night. According to New Mexico State Police, the 30-year old was found dead by the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office following a domestic dispute.

A woman involved in the dispute, bearing a gunshot wound, was found with East, who was dead at the scene. East and the woman, who was claimed to be his girlfriend, were at odds, having a dispute, where East ended up shooting her before dragging her. He was eventually shot by another man at the scene.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for injuries on Tuesday. She is said to be in stable condition. As for the man who shot East, he fled the scene following the fatal attack before the police arrived.
Since 2009, East has had several run-ins with the law that include domestic violence. He was accused of beating up a Belen high school classmate in gym class before pleading no contest to a third-degree battery charge where he was sentenced to three years probation. That was later violated when he was caught using a fake ID.
In 2012, East was arrested again, this time, on domestic violence charge where he was abusing cocaine and physically assaulting his girlfriend. He was indicted on charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, and bribery of a witness.
East comes from a family of fighters, where his brother, Cody, fought in the UFC. Tyler East had a record of 15-6, 1 NC. He fought from 2009 through 2016 and previously trained at Jackson-Wink MMA in Albuquerque, NM.
