Deiveson Figueiredo reclaimed his flyweight title at UFC 270 and now he is open to fighting Brandon Moreno again.
Figueiredo and Moreno were having their trilogy match in the co-main event as the Mexican was coming off a submission win over the Brazilian to become the new champ. Their first fight was a draw in December of 2020 but in the trilogy, it was Figueiredo winning by decision. It was a close fight but the champ believes he thought he won it rather clearly.
“It was 4-1,” Figueiredo said after UFC 270. “I mean, there were five knockdowns. It was 4-1. They could’ve just given me every round.”
Deiveson Figueiredo Open To Rematch With ‘Crybaby’ Brandon Moreno
After the scorecard was read, Figueiredo said he would rematch Moreno in Mexico, yet after taking time to think about it, he believes the fourth fight should take place in Brazil. He is the champ and wants to defend his belt at home.
“Crybaby,” Figueiredo said of Moreno. “Let’s go to the next one, man. Let’s take it up (during) the next one… Yeah, I initially said Mexico. But I think if we go to Mexico… we might not leave. So I think that we’re considering Brazil might be a better option. … (With Mexican fans), I can definitely feel the warmth.
“I love when people yell at me and just swear at me. I love Mexico so much. I cherish it so much that I’m going to make a video for him eating burritos and saying how much I love Mexico, all right? I wanted to knock him out and I felt the crowd was feeling it. If it wasn’t for those 30 seconds, I think I would’ve done it.”
Whether or not Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno will have their fourth fight next is uncertain. There are other contenders at flyweight for both men to face, but it does seem likely they will settle the score in the very near future as it is 1-1-1.
