Thiago Moisés looks to claim consecutive UFC victories for the first time against Bobby Green, who has four APEX wins in 2020 within sight. Will Green be able to secure the victory that could see him enter the lightweight rankings?

Bobby Green (27-10-1) is the former King of the Cage (KOTC) junior welterweight champion and has held lightweight titles for KOTC and Total Fight Alliance promotions, as well as winning the Warriors FC lightweight tournament. “King” has been a UFC lightweight since 2013; he won his first four bouts with the organization and now holds an 8-5-1 UFC record, his only draw coming in his first bout with Vannata (he won the rematch in August).

Green won his most recent fight last month in a one-sided unanimous decision victory against Alan Patrick and, although 17 of his 27 career wins are finishes, his last finish was in 2013. Green is now riding a three-fight winning streak and this will be his fourth bout of 2020 (and third in three months), all of which have taken place at the APEX.

Six of Green’s UFC victories came via the judges, five unanimously, and he has also lost three unanimously as four of his five UFC defeats have come by decision. His background is in boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and wrestling, and at more than eight years older and with much more experience than his opponent, he will be hoping to enter the lightweight rankings with a fourth success of the year.

Thiago Moisés (13-4) is the former Resurrection Fighting Alliance lightweight champion. He won his UFC contract after victory on Dana White’s Contender Series: Brazil and made his promotional debut in November 2018.

The Brazilian is 2-2 in the UFC but got his first finish in the organization in his last fight – a heel hook submission victory against Michael Johnson 25 seconds into round two in a bout which took place in Florida, both men’s training base, in May. Moisés has a background in BJJ and nine of his career wins have been finishes, six by submission of which four came in the second round.

Fighting from a southpaw stance, Moisés will be facing an orthodox opponent this weekend, and although both men are well rounded he may back his BJJ skills and try to take the fight to the floor in order to look for a submission. Moisés is only 25 years old and knows that a victory against a competitor in good form will see him record back to back wins in the UFC for the first time and kick-start his octagon career.

Prediction: Green by decision
