The UFC event scheduled for Feb. 27 is shaping up. Consequently, this morning it was announced that Dustin Jacoby and Maxim Grishin will be added to the card. It was first reported by MMAFighting.com. The event will take place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Similarly, both men are coming off wins so there’s a definite wall of pressure building to see who’s 2021 starts off right.
Interestingly, both athletes love to stand and bang, so the show is sure to deliver. Since Jacoby (13-5) does enter the Octagon with a plethora of kickboxing experience, obviously, his skillset is a potent one. Conversely, the Russian, Grishin’s (31-8-2) experience will be one of his most utilized weapons in this war. In fact, Grishin has fought in promotions such as M-1 and M-1 Challenge, Fight Nights Global, the Professional Fighting League (PFL), and many more. So, with that in mind, it’s safe to say the Russian has seen his fair share of striking.
Dustin Jacoby and Maxim Grishin Wage War
First, Jacoby found success on Dana White’s Contender Series but took full advantage of his UFC debut. Paired against Justin Ledet, Jacoby let the world get acquainted with his violent striking and ended the fight in early round 1.
While Jacoby’s streak is more established at three victories, Grishin enters the bout with momentum as well. Mainly, because when the 36-year old Russian gets the better of the striking exchanges, nights tend to end fast. The power of his shots thud through the arenas and that was on full display when smashing through UFC fighter, Gadzhimurad Antigulov in the second round of his most recent fight. If his kickboxing and boxing records are counted, Jacoby is on a six-fight win streak.
With the heavier divisions, consistency is a marker greatly valued. Either way, both of these athletes stand and trade heavy leather, so fans will be watching this one with a close eye.
