A middleweight clash is on deck for Aug. 14 as Darren Till and Derek Brunson will headline the event.
After Brunson sent Kevin Holland to the back of the line, he will now face Till in an important showdown. The news was first reported by ESPN alongside confirmation by MMA Junkie. Brunson enters the matchup on a four-fight win streak. Even though Till is coming off a loss, it’s fair to say he had a daunting challenge in front of him when he faced the former champion, Robert Whittaker. Despite the loss, Till is always a handful in the striking department.
Darren Till Faces Derek Brunson On Aug. 14
Prior to the unanimous decision loss to Whittaker, Till had a technical stand-up battle with Kelvin Gastelum. As a former title challenger, many believed that if Till got past Gastelum that he could indeed be headed for a title shot. However, “The Gorilla” looks to have another hurdle in front of him. With the title picture at middleweight muddied, as of now, the middleweight throne will be contended by Israel Adesanya looking to thwart off an old enemy in Marvin Vettori.
Certainly, this main event is a big opportunity to assert oneself as a title contender. Overall, fans will get to see how Till fares against another wrestler. Conversely, Brunson looked outstanding against Holland and controlled most of the fight. Perhaps, if the wrestler can keep Till controlled, it will be a long night for the Scouser.
The Darren Till Vs. Derek Brunson fight is the first fight added to the UFC event on Aug 14. All of the action will air on ESPN+.
