UFC president, Dana White isn’t certain what the future of Stipe Miocic holds after his UFC 260 loss to Francis Ngannou.
Entering the pay-per-view card, it was expected that the winner of Miocic vs. Ngannou would face Jon Jones next. Unfortunately for Miocic, the fight did not go his way and he suffered a second-round KO loss.
After the loss, it was uncertain if the 38-year-old would fight again. According to White, he doesn’t know what the future holds for Miocic.
“I don’t know what the future holds for Stipe,” White said after UFC 260. “Obviously after this fight, he’s got to go home and heal up and spend some time with his family, and then we’ll talk about what’s next for him. But I have nothing but the utmost respect for Stipe Miocic and everything he’s done in this sport and for this company.”
Although Stipe Miocic lost his heavyweight title, he still is the best UFC heavyweight of all-time and one of the best heavyweights ever. His legacy is set in stone, and despite White and Miocic’s relationship, the UFC boss says he loves Miocic and knows how much he did for the sport.
“I’ve had this weird relationship with Stipe, but I love Stipe,” White said. “The guy is as solid as you can get. (He) kept his job as a firefighter, is loved in his hometown and will go down as the greatest heavyweight ever in UFC history – in the sport’s history, actually. Tonight’s Francis’ first night.”
Before the loss at UFC 260 to Ngannou, Miocic had his legendary trilogy with Daniel Cormier. In the first fight, he suffered a KO loss but rebounded to win by TKO in the second and decision in third. In his career, he also holds notable wins over Junior dos Santos, Alistair Overeem, Fabricio Werdum, and Andrei Arlovski among others.
