Strawweight contender Cynthia Calvillo is aiming to snap the first losing streak of her career when she takes on Andrea Lee.
Initially, former title challenger Jessica Eye was paired with Lee. However, Eye was forced to pull out of the scheduled contest after falling ill. Instead, Calvillo will take on “KGB” at UFC Vegas 42 and look to get back on track in the flyweight division. Eye issued a statement about her withdrawal on social media. The bout was first reported by sources at MMA Junkie. Currently, the event is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, NV., inside the UFC Apex.
Calvillo, 34, (9-3-1) last competed against former champion Jéssica Andrade. During the Sept. UFC 266 pay-per-view, the two fought to open up the main card for the marquee show. The contest lasted a single round, and Calvillo was unable to withstand the power of Andrade. After losing by TKO in round one, the 34-year-old assured her fans that she would be back soon and better than ever.
Lee, 32, (12-5-0) will now be facing Calvillo in place of Eye on Nov. 13. Recently, “KGB” earned one of the biggest victories of her career after finishing Antonina Shevchenko. The Texas native demonstrated her ability to end a fight, especially when she gets the fight to the canvas. After scoring a triangle arm-bar submission in the second round, Lee was welcomed back into the win column following three straight UFC losses.
Lee was able to snap her three-fight losing skid in her last fight. At UFC Vegas 42 Calvillo will have the chance to redeem herself in the flyweight division as well. With the addition of Cynthia Calvillo vs. Andrea Lee, here is an up-to-date lineup for the Nov. 13 UFC card.
