A bantamweight matchup between MMA legend Cub Swanson and Jonathan Martinez is in the works for an October UFC event. Though an exact date, however, was not specified, this fight will be at 135 pounds. It will be Swanson’s first-ever fight at bantamweight, sources told AllAccessMMA on Sunday night.

Swanson, 38, from Palm Springs, California, is 28-12 as a pro and 13-8 in the UFC. He is coming off of a first-round TKO win over Darren Elkins at featherweight on December 18th, 2021. Swanson will be looking for his second consecutive victory when he faces Martinez. He has previously fought at featherweight and lightweight in his storied MMA career.

Martinez, 28, from Los Angeles, California, is 16-4 as a pro and 7-3 in the UFC. Two of his wins under the UFC banner came by way of knockout. He is currently on a three-fight winning streak, with his last victory coming against Vince Morales on May 21st, 2022 at UFC Fight Night: Holm vs Vieira. In addition to competing at bantamweight, Martinez has competed at flyweight and featherweight in his MMA career.
