Conor McGregor likes Michael Chandler but is confident he will be able to slice through him when they fight later this year.
McGregor and Chandler are set to coach The Ultimate Fighter and will fight later this year in a very intriguing matchup. With TUF filming beginning, McGregor said he talked to Chandler and likes him and has no issues with him at all, but does question his coaching ability.
Conor Mcgregor On Michael Chandler
“I like Michael, we’re blokes. I posed with him yesterday. I’ve got no issues with him at all. I think he’s a good fighter. Coaching against him, I’m interested to see his coaching style. He’s more of an athlete type of a guy than a technical martial artist,” McGregor said to TheMacLife. “I know he’s got some skills in the wrestling department, and he’s got some skills overall. But as far as the small, finer details, I’m interested to see. I’m happy where I’m at. It will be an interesting one to go against him [on the show] before I go against him (in the fight).”
Although McGregor and Chandler will need to finish filming TUF before the two do meet, both are confident in their skills that they will get their hand raised. Yet, the Irishman vows to slice through Chandler and get a stoppage win rather early.
“I think I’m just going to slice through him,” Conor McGregor said. “I think I’m a little too slicy for him than anyone else he’s fought. A little too snappy and whippy. I think I’ll slice through him.”
Conor McGregor (22-6) is on a two-game losing skid having lost back-to-back fights to Dustin Poirier with his last fight being in July of 2021 where he broke his leg in the trilogy match. The Irishman is the former featherweight and lightweight champion with notable wins over Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes, Donald Cerrone, Eddie Alvarez, and Nate Diaz among others.
