Add former UFC interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington, to the list of unimpressed MMA fighters that don’t take Jake Paul seriously. The YouTube sensation arrived at UFC 261 in Jacksonville, Florida with an entourage in tow only to be greeted with jeers and boos from a sellout crowd chanting “F— Jake Paul”. It’s been one week since the crowd stared COVID-19 in the face, defying protocol to voice their displeasure of the internet boxing star while in attendance for the Kamaru Usman-Jorge Masvidal fight card.

Covington was also in attendance for the event and while winning three boxing matches, Paul has been seen to be taken less seriously than ever before.
Everything that’s going on with him is hilarious,” Covington said on What the Heck. “This guy’s an amateur. ‘Snake Paul’ is literally a bum. He’s a Disney, YouTube star. He’s not a real fighter, he’s an amateur, he’s a nobody. I’d literally smack the pubes off his face. What I make of him is he’s just looking to get hype and build himself up as a real fighter. He’s not a real fighter, this guy’s a nobody from the streets.”
“That list fight with Ben Askren was a work. They made that a fix. Askren took a dive for the money and that’s that. I don’t really take much more from that circus of Triller. It’s literally a circus, it’s the clown show. No one’s got time on their Saturday night at midnight to listen to an hour-f*cking special by Justin Bieber in between fights. Come on, this is a joke.” (MMAFighting)
Paul defeated Ben Askren on April 17 to improve his record to 3-0 at the Triller Fight Club card in Atlanta, Georgia via first-round knockout. But despite calling out fighters to face him in the ring, he hasn’t once called out Covington, who flat out had no respect for him whatsoever.
Is Jake Paul afraid to call out a UFC fighter in their prime? Will his antics finally get the better of him? And how will he respond when someone calls him out for a change? Only time will tell.
