Colby Covington is confident he will beat Leon Edwards when the two fight.
After Edwards defended his title for the first time back at UFC 286, Dana White announced Colby Covington would get the next title shot. Although Edwards has said Covington doesn’t deserve it and he won’t take the fight, ‘Chaos’ believes the Brit is only saying that because he knows he would lose the scrap.
Colby Covington on Leon Edwards
“Leon man you need to stop hiding you need to come out here and defend your f*****g country and show that you’re a real champion. If you are a real champion you’ll beat anybody so come get it Leon I’m waiting for you, Leon Scott… I beat him from pillar to post I beat him everywhere,” Covington said to Michael Bisping.
“I’m a better wrestler, I’m a better striker, better Jiu Jitsu you know my cardio he can’t hang. He’s closed down in fights you know those last couple rounds he definitely comes out hard and he’ll throw 50-60 kicks, 50-60 punches but then you know his volume changes as the fight goes on so I will wear him out, Michael.
“You know I will break him I’ll break his will. You know you see that that’s why he’s not selling the fight he had the perfect opportunity to spotlight in London to call me out to the man in the division the biggest draw to make it even bigger and you know he didn’t call me out Mike so there’s probably a reason for that,” Covington continued.
“If I would have went in the cage you know all the London fans were embracing me ‘Colby Colby’ so maybe he didn’t want to get his feelings hurt but you know he needs to start f*****g doing his part carrying his weight as a champion and coming for the next man up. He knows what’s gonna happen, Mike, he’s gonna get broken in front of the world.”
As of right now, the UFC has yet to book Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington so there is a chance the fight doesn’t happen next. But, if it does, ‘Chaos’ is more than confident he will dominate and break Edwards to become the new UFC welterweight champion.
