Chris “Breezy” Brown (5-2) was supposed to face Salamain Ahmadyar (7-2) this Friday at LFA 85 in a Welterweight bout. Due to undisclosed reasons, Ahmadyar has pulled out of the fight and Brown has a new opponent now in Ignacio Bahamondes (9-3). LFA 85 will go down in Sioux Falls South Dakota this Friday the 17th.
Brown is coming off a loss to Carrington Banks where he was beaten via unanimous decision. This loss was an important one for Brown because it forced him to take a long hard look at what he was doing to his body to make the cut all the way down to Lightweight.
“Whenever I would fight at 55 I would cut 40 pounds because I walk around at 190. That cut to 155 was killing me because I would have to do it all the time. I would get a fight and they would cancel or they would back out at weigh-ins or whatever so I was just ruining my body for cutting at least six times last year and only got to fight twice. My body just gave out on me this last one. I’ve never felt that bad before so we immediately knew what the issue was”.
Now Brown will officially make his transition to welterweight and that’s where his fans can plan to see him competing at moving forward.
It goes without saying that our country is going through unprecedented times right now with the current pandemic and the BLM movement. We asked Chris his overall thoughts on what is going on in our country.
“Yeah its good that things are getting attention right now, we have been dealing with this stuff forever. People have been showing a blind eye to this forever but now that cameras are out everything is a lot more visual. I have had the cops called on me for walking down the street countless times, just simple stuff like that just to get harassed for no reason. It’s just good to see that people are taking a stand and it’s not just black people its every race out there protesting for it and helping the cause. Everyone wants to group in looters with the protests but there is always gonna be people trying to take advantage of any type of situation. People just have to be cognizant of that and not try and group everyone just like they say not all cops are bad because a couple did something crazy. So it’s the same thing across the board people just want to be respected and live equally”.
Brown is also a big New England Patriots football fan. We asked him how he expects the Pats to be this season with no Tom Brady and having Cam Newton behind center.
“Tom Brady leaving is tough because he is the reason I am a Patriots fan. It’s been a hard pill to swallow but with Cam going it’s just about keeping him healthy. If he can stay healthy he will ball out”.
Brown went on to explain he believes the Pats will definitely make the playoffs if Newton can stay healthy.
Brown isn’t worried about facing a last-minute replacement in Bahamondes. The JacksonWink standout fighter told us nothing will change on his end.
“The same thing, nothing really will change. My style of fighting I don’t have to adjust too much to anyone. Because of the results of the last fight people think I can’t wrestle so I was looking forward to fighting a wrestler originally so I could show that was a weight cutting issue and my body being dead. People who know me know I can wrestle, I was a state champion wrestler in high school and I’ve never had anybody do me like that. I was planning to strike and mix up my wrestling so I don’t plan on changing anything. This is just even easier cause he’s just gonna stand and strike with me and I know he’s not the kind of striker I am so its definitely in my favor and I am expecting a KO or TKO win”.
