Cameron Smotherman (4-2) is a fast-rising pro prospect on the regional scene in South Texas. “The baby-faced killer” will be taking on California’s Shane Torres (4-2) in the upcoming Fury FC 60 event in Smotherman’s hometown of Houston. Smotherman is coming off of two wins by way of KO, and he will look to continue his head of steam on Sunday, April 24th.
Torres on the other hand holds the same record as Cameron Smotherman and is coming off of TKO victory against DJ Navarro at Zhong Luo CFS 1. This will be his Fury FC debut. However, Torres is no stranger when it comes to grappling as he has had 4 professional appearences under the Fight 2 Win banner.
Cameron Smotherman has recently taken a trip out to Las Vegas, Nevada to include Xtreme Couture in his fight camp preparing for Torres. When speaking with All Access MMA, Smotherman explained “going to Xtreme Couture was the first time I have ever been to another gym, so that was a fun change of pace.” His current gym is Metro Fight Club, which is home to UFC contenders Adrian Yanez and Mana Martinez.
“Besides the two weeks I was there I have done my entire camp in Houston. The training out [in Vegas] was very good and I definitely want to make another trip out there in the future” said Smotherman.
When Smotherman was asked his prediction of how the fight will end he stated “from amateur to pro I have won all of my fights except for one by knockout. Next Sunday I am expecting to get another.”
Time will only tell which direction this fight goes, but this one is guaranteed fireworks. Smotherman is lightning fast and he is not the “baby-faced killer” for no reason. When watching sparring rounds at Xtreme Couture, Smotherman was going against many UFC veterans and put the pressure on the Vegas natives.
It all goes down at Escapade 2001 in downtown Houston. What is your prediction for the fight? Will Cameron Smotherman get the knockout he is hoping for?
