Hawaii’s own Brad Tavares will look to put a stamp on his recent winning streak when he faces rising upstart Brendan Allen in a middleweight showdown.
Brendan Allen was the first to report news of the match-up on his social media. Facing Allen is Tavares, who is the #13-ranked UFC middleweight and currently riding a three-fight winning streak.

Tavares has been fighting under the UFC banner since 2010. The middleweight managed to secure a spot on season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter and has always fought for the crowd with an exciting style.
The 33-year old has grown up in the UFC but has endured speed bumps along the way. What makes many of his setbacks so confusing is that some of his losses may have been averted had the middleweight focused more on calculative measures instead of throwing caution to the wind.
Tavares has matured into a well-rounded mixed martial artist and fixed that problem a long time ago. Recently, the 33-year old Hawaiian showed as much when he locked in his last two wins. First, he proved himself against the battle-tested Antônio Carlos Júnior and came out with the unanimous decision win. Then, took a step up in competition and beat Omari Akhmedov via split-decision.
Facing the UFC mainstay is the crafty middleweight Allen who enters the contest having won back-to-back fights against Karl Roberson and Punahele Soriano. Both performances screamed for a step up in competition as Allen made short work of Roberson–a very big and aggressive middleweight. Living up to his nickname, Allen went “All In” and submitted Roberson with a heel-hook. Then, Allen comfortably handled one of the hottest rising prospects in Soriano back in late July.
Allen is a known finisher and is a capable stand-up and grappling tactician. Of Allen’s sixteen pro wins, nine have come by way of submission and five by TKO/KO.
